How an Attorney Can Help You Start Receiving SSI

Posted on April 30, 2018August 3, 2019

Applying for SSI can be a very challenging process as most applicants are turned down the first one or two times. In order for you to stop being denied SSI, you are going to want to ask for help from an SSI attorney so you can get some understanding of why you keep getting denied, get help with the court process, and find out if you truly do qualify. By not seeking help from an attorney that specializes in social security, you could risk being denied a few more times before the judge even thinks of the possibility of approving you.

Multiple Denials

Normally the first few times you apply for social security you will be denied, especially if you are going in front of the judge without a social security lawyer kingsport tn present. In order to help yourself get approved, you are going to need doctor’s notes, counselor notes, and ER reports to help prove to the judge that you are incapable of working at this point in time. Once you hire an attorney they will be able to sift through your paperwork and figure out exactly why the judge keeps denying you. This way you can start picking away at your case and making all the wrong things right.

Court Process

The court process of applying for social security requires you to stand in front of a judge and explain the reasons why you are unable to work and show he or she proof of the treatment programs you have been attending. By hiring an attorney to stand by your side at court you will have legal counsel to advice you on what to say while on the stand. They will also be able to help you prepare your case with notarized paperwork and all the correct documents to help you prove your illness or injury.

Qualification

Once you find an attorney that is suitable to you and your case you can start going over all your paperwork and reports together. By reading through your papers, your attorney will be able to tell you why you are not qualifying for a social security check. Some of the disabilities that may qualify for SSI are respiratory disorders, PTSD, depression, schizophrenia, and severe anxiety. The trick to this is, you cannot just qualify by having one of these disorders as you are going to need extensive proof of the fact that you have been attending treatments and that the treatments have not worked.

Having the help of an attorney for your social security case is very important if you are looking to stop getting denied and win the compensation you have been looking for. Your attorney will be able to talk to you about qualifications, help you through the court process, and give you an understanding of why you keep getting denied by the judge. Taking on your SSI case on your own could lead you to more denials which may cause you to give up hope on the matter and stop applying altogether.
